Finnish–Dutch culture worker, educator, and creative director. For nearly two decades I’ve built collective infrastructures across pedagogy, club culture, and social action – from Viral Radio to Progress Bar and Good Praxis – exploring how sound, image, and community can foster solidarity, joy, and climate action.

On Thursday 7 November, 14 artists from Curaçao, Suriname, and the Netherlands organised a successful collective manifestation to celebrate their week-long collaboration at Kura Hulanda Museum on Curaçao. This was part of the international exchange project Transforming Narratives 2, bringing together these artists to explore how transnational, decolonial, creative collaboration can build new spaces for connection, healing, and growth.
The group spanned theatre, dance, spoken word, graphic design, film, photography, textiles, jewellery, poetry, creative writing, and more.
The first days included visits to the Kura Hulanda Museum and the Tula Museum, led by the venerable Curaçao elder Jeanne Henriquez, who shared powerful insights on the role of art in telling untold stories of resistance, resilience, and freedom.
The Collective Creativity workshop, facilitated by Finnish-Dutch artist and teacher Juha van 't Zelfde, focused on increasing awareness, skills, and enjoyment of collaboration, based on the principle "nothing about us without us." Based on their want, haves, and needs, workshop participants naturally formed groups in which they created work together. In this way, they transformed their individual desires into collective action.
Transforming Narratives 2 aims to strengthen the position of socially engaged artists in these countries, so that they can take these tools back to their own communities.
Transforming Narratives 2 is a collaboration between ST/Art Foundation, Forum Tolin Toli Masanga (Suriname), Boost Caribbean Foundation (Curaçao), ATD Lectorate and DAS Creative Producing MA (Netherlands).
