THIS IS THE MOMENT WHEN YOU SEE WHO YOU ARE
This is the moment when you see who you are (2025) is a short film and film installation that pays tribute to the people in Amsterdam who have taken to the streets in solidarity with Palestine and in protest against the genocide of Palestinians by Israel since 7 October 2023.

It was created for the exhibition 'Towards Palestine: Arab and African Working-Class Perspectives', that took place at Momentum Movement studio in Amsterdam from 31/01/2025-07/02/2025.

From the exhibition description:

'Towards Palestine: Arab and African Working Class Perspecives' is an urgent exhibition that brings together works by seven artists from Palestine (Maya Jaber), Syria (Loujain Ahamd and Abu Shihab), Somalia (Mini Maxwell), Morocco (Kenza Badi) Iraq (Zaid Muqdad), and The Netherlands  (Juha van 't Zelfde).

The exhibition includes painings, performances, a film, installations, print works, and an anti-imperialist queer manifesto. The exhibition examines the struggle for Palestinian liberation within the broader context of imperialism.

The liberation of Palestine, when explored within the heart of imperial powers, has historically provoked criticism that remains underrepresented in mainstream art institutions and liberal spaces in the West.

While they often avoid addressing the intersections of dehumanisation, Arab and African working-class resistance, and their historic role in making liberation movements irresistible, this exhibition reclaims that conversation. It amplifies voices of resistance, art, and healing, showing their ongoing relevance through artists positioned at the heart of the so-called "empire."

Through the eyes of six Arab and African artists, and a Finnish-Dutch anarchist lens, Towards Palestine reflects on the politics of the arts of Palestinian liberation and its historical significance with a witness of the Arab and African diaspora voices and imaginations in today's colonial context.

Towards Palestine unapologetically engages with revolution, resistance, and solidarity, urging people to reflect on their roles within systems that perpetuate imperialism.
