On the invititation of Nik Baerten in 2016, I coined a word and wrote a short description about the future of technology for Belgian design platform Wanderful.design. I recently remembered it, and decided to add it here:
Perennial (noun): Networked product that will auto-upgrade both its software and its hardware.
“Since Nokia single-handedly created the perennials market, the Helsinki-based smart-materials company has flourished. Within a matter of four seasons, Nokia has brought the dominating disposable-media producers, such as Apple, OnePlus and Samsung, to the verge of extinction.”
