When I lived in Rotterdam my favourite cultural venue I would visit was Lantaren/Venster. A multifunctional theatre for arthouse cinema, play, dance and music, with a good cafe and a decent kitchen. Here I DJed and organised a series of concerts and club nights from 2005 until 2008, under the artistic leadership of the great Kadir Selçuk.
Some of the artists I had the joy of inviting here were Philip Jeck (video), Christian Fennesz, BJ Nilsen, Icarus, Jacob Kirkegaard, Alog, Raz Mesinai, Vladislav Delay, Digital Mystikz, Loefah, Kromestar, Hijak, Random Trio and Kode9 & The Spaceape.
Kadir is responsible for introducing me to Huub van Riel, the founding director of the Bimhuis, in 2006. Huub gave me the opportunity to further develop this "series that isn't a series" of new electronic music, that would last tens of concerts until 2014. It is to Kadir and Huub that I owe my career in live music organisation.
